Advanced numerical simulations on the effect of reinforcement with FRP on reinforced concrete frames in seismic zones.

An in-depth article dedicated to design criteria and solutions for the structural improvement of existing concrete buildings.

Existing reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete structures can be strengthened by bonding carbon fiber CFRP fabrics or laminates to increase their strength and ductility, without increasing their mass and stiffness. Depending on the application/installation method of carbon fiber fabrics or laminates, it is possible to improve flexural and shear strength or enhance the confinement of concrete by wrapping the reinforced element, as well as strengthening the connections between them.
