In this study, the results of an investigation campaign aimed at evaluating the behavior of masonry reinforced with plaster reinforced with GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) mesh and reinforced mortar joints with stainless steel wire mesh are reported. The investigations included samples reinforced with reinforced mortar on both faces, as well as samples reinforced with a hybrid system, i.e., plaster reinforcement on one face and reinforced mortar joints on the other.
Numerous diagonal compression tests were conducted on panels of three different types of masonry: roughly squared rubble, river pebbles, and solid bricks with two headers. A thickness of 400 mm was considered for the first two cases, and 250 mm for the solid brick samples.
Furthermore, three out-of-plane bending tests were carried out to evaluate the performance of the hybrid system applied to river pebble masonry (400 mm thickness).
These investigations provided valuable information on the mechanical behavior of the reinforced samples and highlighted the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.
