The seismic protection of existing masonry buildings: a research journey on the « Composite Reinforced Mortar » technique

In the last 20 years, within the field of seismic protection of masonry buildings, various techniques involving the use of plaster reinforced with fabrics or nets based on fibers have progressively emerged. These techniques are collectively known as TRM (Textile Reinforced Mortar). This contribution retraces the main stages of an in-depth research journey conducted on a specific TRM technique called Composite Reinforced Mortar (CRM), providing an overview of the experimental testing and numerical modeling experiences aimed at achieving a solid understanding of its behavior and effectiveness in enhancing the performance of masonry structures.
