Bâtiment, RI-STRUTTURA
The number of agritourism establishments in Italy has increased by 4.3% in recent years, reaching around 19,000 in 2009. According to Istat, the leading region is confirmed to be Tuscany, with over 4,000 agritourism accommodations where, in addition to the usual dining options, various sports and non-sporting activities such as horseback riding, hiking, nature observation, trekking, and mountain biking are also offered.
The true strength of this region lies not only in its beautiful natural landscapes but also in the presence of many renovated farmhouses and rustic buildings converted for hosting guests in agritourism facilities.
The problem is that often, due to the age of these constructions, the buildings require significant structural consolidation interventions, real modernizations that also make the walls more durable over time.
One of these farmhouses, named « Casa al Cerro, » required the same renovation operations, particularly in terms of wall reinforcement and strong structural consolidation. In this specific case, the engineer Pagano decided to use FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) grids from FIBRE NET for this operation. Thanks to the inherent characteristics of FRP material, including high mechanical performance, chemical resistance, and thermal insulation, these grids ensure remarkable chemical, physical, and mechanical strength and durability.
By leveraging these features and the easy installation of FIBRE NET’s FRP mesh, the wall consolidation work was completed in a significantly short time with extraordinary results, restoring the structural integrity of this farmhouse and allowing it to be enjoyed once again in the heart of the Sienese countryside.
