Reinforced Repointing Technique

Reinforced repointing is a particularly effective solution for improving the structural behavior of historic masonry façades, as it provides distributed confinement and better connection between masonry units, resulting in significant increases in shear and compressive strength and a marked improvement in ductility.

Its effectiveness is even more evident in typical historic constructions, often characterized by multi-leaf masonry with poor interlocking, low-quality mortars, and the need to preserve the original appearance of the façade—conditions that limit the use of invasive or visible strengthening techniques.

Compatibility with NHL lime mortars and natural materials, together with the reversibility and near invisibility of the intervention, allows the system to be used on protected masonry and façades, ensuring effective strengthening with minimal aesthetic impact and full respect for conservation requirements.

Reinforced Repointing of Joints

RETICOLA

RETICOLA is the Fibre Net system for strengthening fair-faced masonry through reinforced repointing of joints.
The intervention consists of inserting stainless steel strands and connectors within the mortar joints, integrated into the new repointing, with the aim of improving the mechanical performance of the masonry without altering its architectural character.

In Building Construction

In the building sector, RETICOLA is particularly suitable for the restoration and improvement of historic buildings and exposed residential masonry, where the strengthening must integrate seamlessly into the structure without modifying its architectural language.

In Infrastructure

This technique is also applied in the strengthening of masonry bridges and tunnels, contributing to distributed resistance of the masonry surface and ensuring adequate durability even under demanding service conditions.

Applications

Reticola

Reticola

The RETICOLA system, based on the Reticolatus™ technique, consists of carrying out reinforced repointing of the mortar joints between stone or brick units forming the masonry, through the use of special stainless steel strands and connectors, specifically designed and dimensioned for this application.

Reticola Twin

Reticola Twin

The RETICOLA TWIN system consists of reinforced repointing of the joints on both faces of the masonry panel, using stainless steel strands and connectors inserted within the mortar joints. The resulting three-dimensional reinforcement improves the masonry’s resistance to shear, bending, and compression, while preserving its original aesthetic appearance.
