FRP BETONTEX SYSTEM for the recovery of an industrial warehouse in p.c.c. damaged by fire

A technical solution that combines material safety with reduced construction time and costs

Structural reinforcement interventions are not always caused by damage resulting from traumatic events, such as an earthquake, or material degradation due to aging. This was the case with an industrial warehouse in Brianza, which suffered the harmful effects of a fire that broke out in an adjacent portion of the building. The fire fumes affected the precast concrete structure, damaging the roof elements and depositing soot and residue on the concrete elements, visibly darkening them.

The adopted reinforcement solution allowed for the in-situ restoration of the structure by only removing the roof covering and preserving the existing P.C.C. elements, resulting in significant savings in terms of both cost and time.

The following intervention, which involved three skilled workers operating for six days, was carried out by applying appropriately sized pultruded carbon fiber laminates and carbon fiber wraps from the FRP Betontex System by Fibre Net.
