Building
A typical structure found in the historic buildings of the Apennine region, reinforced with innovative and cost-effective solutions made in Italy, has withstood earthquakes of more than double the intensity of the strongest seismic event that struck central Italy in 2016. These findings come from the results of tests conducted on shaking tables at the ENEA Casaccia Research Center. The tests were performed on a U-shaped structure composed of three walls made of mortar and tuff, with asymmetric openings and a roof supported by wooden beams. The objective of these tests was to identify the best and least invasive techniques for strengthening homes without requiring evacuation
