Experimentations
Building
This article summarizes the results of an experimental study aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of two reinforcement systems for masonry arches: CRM (Composite Reinforced Mortar) and FRCM (Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Matrix).
The first system involves the application of a reinforced plaster with composite material nets made of glass fibers on the extrados or intrados surface. The second system involves the application of a dry carbon fabric using an inorganic matrix.
The study focuses on quasi-static cyclic experimental tests performed on full-brick and lime mortar non-load-bearing barrel vaults at full scale (radius 2060 mm, width 770 mm). The test setup was designed to simulate the effects of cyclic horizontal loads proportional to the mass of the vault.
